when I go out in the mornings to start my car it usually cranks right up but lately it starts then cuts off.
when i begin driving its sluggish especially when going up hills. on hills it seems like it wants to cut off but only when the motor isnt all the way warmed up.
after driving and turning it off when i attempt to restart it cranks before completely starting up...what is the issue
i just replaced the spark plugs thinking that was the problem but it still persist.

yes change the fuel filter with the problems you are describing, sluggish ,1980 el camino should have the fuel pump on the block only requiring7 to 10 psi.yes change the filter, look for dirt in it as you turn it up from the inlet side,
Have you replaced the fuel filter? carburetors hate dirt or water in the fuel system. Change the filter out see what happens.
the problem may be on the supply side to the carb. check the vacuum volume and pressure related to the pump.
