I drive a 1996 Plymouth Breeze with about 136,000 miles on it. Recently, it's been having problems. It starts okay but when I reverse and then put it into drive, it turns off. Also, it turns off if I sit at a stoplight for too long. My dad's friend said it might need a transmission oil change but he isn't sure. So my questions are:
1. What do you think might be wrong with the car?
2. How much would a transmission oil change cost for a car like this?
Update:My dad's friend is a mechanic and that's what he said it might be.

Not enough info to call it a trans. problem or any thing else
first off, take it to a mechanic or repair person...don't rely on friends who don't actually know what they're talking about...trannys don't use oil...they use tranny fluid, it's not the same thing and it's RED..not brown/yellow/oil colored...next off, if you needed a fluid change it wouldn't make the car STOP for no reason, theres something else going on...so do yourself a favor...take it to someone who knows about cars and have them drive with you and you show them whats wrong...(and don't let them treat you like a girl, yes they still do that...stand up for yourself and if something doesn't sound right to you, SPEAK UP and say so.)
