I have a V6 engine in the vehicle now. I want to drop a 350 into it and I am on a $3,000 budget. I am in Texas vehicle is California so I am going to have to pay someone for labor.I understand that I am going to have to switch the transmission out because it was a V6 and it probably cant handle a 350. I am not sure what I can and cannot swap out from engine to engine as far as pumps and the radiator and other stuff.Again, I have 3 G's. I want a new engine but other Performance parts can wait.Am I going to have to get a new differential? I need it to make it from Ca to Texas (Thats a whole different budget). Am I being unrealistic or is this possible? Any advice would be appreciated.
If you dont know any thing about cars shut your face. No, towing it here and doing the work myself is not an option. The V6 is shot. The car will be driven by my father in law for about a month before I make the long trip.

You could probably get a decent used 350 for about $500, tranny $400 - $500, The rear diff will work ok for now for the V6 it would be a lighter unit than for a small block, but you will probably end up changing it eventually, you may have to get the driveshaft shortened and have the U joints and pinion for the tranny changed, also motor mounts, probably tranny mounts, exhaust system can be modified to fit the 350 exahust manifolds, the shifter may have to be changed or modified, the rad may be okay depending on how many cores it has, a 350 should have at least 3 to keep it cool. there are a few other things I'm sure you will come across as well. It's certainly possible to do it but I think a $3000.00 budget may be a bit tight, especially when your not doing it yourself..
I personally would find a used V6 in decent condition and stick it in there for the drive to CA and then start modifying it.
Good Luck
you can get that done here in bolivar mo for around 1500
