I have read about thirty articles and talked to a few of my friends and I have gotten mixed up answers about the real laws. First, do you have to take a road test? articles say you have to but my friend did not have to take a road test just a visual and rules of the road test. Also do you have to have insurance? My friend says you do but in the articles it does not say anything about insurance. Thank you for the help.

Here you go, straight from the official Ohio BMV site:
http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/moped_info.stm
While it doesn't specifically mention insurance, it does say that you cannot ride them on any street where the speed limit is over 35mph, so they aren't considered in the same class as a motor scooter (which would require insurance). Personally, I think it's a good idea to insure it. There are a lot of car/moped accidents.
Call your local BMV branch, tell them the type of bike you have and you can get a definitive answer.
The Ohio regulation exceptionally says it can't have a piston displacement of greater advantageous than 50 cubic centimeters. i'm noting the operative word "greater advantageous than." curiously from this, in my opinion, that your motorcycle could be 50 cc and nevertheless qualify as a moped.
