My boyfriend is going to be moving in with me. He still has four months on the lease. Half my rent is more than his rent so I told him if he gave me rent, I'd turn around and pay his rent until the end of the lease.
The landlord told him he can't move out...and on his lease it does indeed say leaving for over 5 days is considered abandonment. Is this legal??
Secondly would it be worth trying to find another renter? We are not going to break lease (don't want to drag his name in the mud or get sued) but if we find another to take over shouldn't she take it since I believe there is a law about mitigating damages by finding another renter.

Check his lease...it probably says you cannot sublet the apartment. It might be worth it to get around the abandonment clause, and then you wouldn't have to pay his rent...but if the subletor damages the apartment in anyway you would be liabel for the damages, so choose carefully...and get a deposit!
No you are able to no longer withhold hire because of the fact of a broken equipment. the main possibly reason is they're waiting for a factor to return in. Your microwave dying isn't your landlords subject until they offered that still.
