Portal won't run on my computer?
I have over the recommended stats. I'm running Direct x 11 on Vista with a 2.3 single core. i should be able to run the game but when it goes to load the menu i get black screened. someone please help me with this. I've tried everything. i did the whole dxdiag thing, and i even tried changing my direct x level. nothings working for me. please help 0.o

Portal doesn't support Direct X 11 or even 10, use DX9. Try running the game in 640x480 resolution (this might mess up other steam games) by going to the properties menu of the executable. If that doesn't work, just ask around on the portal forum.
you need a new video card i had the same problem. pick one up at ebay for like 50$ then it will work fine. i had the same problem
