I have a Compaq presario f700 and it sound does not work. I downgrade to xp, I used the conx driver and I used the realtrek coders and also used the microsoft install of the hdd audio and still nothing. I running out of time. Everything else works but this is the only trouble.

2 possible causes: 1) disabled in bios, or 2) bad soundcard
Check your bios setup (on bootup of the machine) and see if it is enabled in the bios.
If bad sound, your only option is to get an external USB soundcard that you can find. Do not expect too much of them, but they work if you just want sound.
