The Rosary, as a gift of prayer from the Mother of God, leads us to Christ in a way unique among the devotions in the Church.
The Rosary brings us, through a devoted pondering of its mysteries, into intimate union with the very Person of Jesus.
We must remember that the Rosary, as the Holy Father has pointed out, brings us into a kind of union with Mary in which we see "the mysteries of the Lord’s life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord".
We join her in contemplating her Son and His deeds, as she did so many times herself while on earth. Mary "kept all these things and pondered them in her heart" (Lk. 2:19). Thus, we can say that the Rosary is a form of contemplative prayer where we are receiving an extraordinary assistance from the Mother of God to ponder the Face of Christ her Son. In this she leads us, over the years, to that depth of prayer that is truly a gift from God, and a loving union with the very Person of Christ dwelling in the soul.
If more people would look at the Catholic Church for what it really is, they would look no further.
There are too many misconceptions of what people perceive the Church to be.
If people really tried to understand and study for themselves instead of believing what someone else is telling them, our churches would be busting at the seams.
I chose Jesus and His one true Church over what I want and what makes me feel better about myself.
Because in Christ all things are possible!
The rosary is a prayer, a deep and prayerful meditation on the life of Jesus and the Holy Family.
My prayers of the Rosary are petitioned through her intercession. Maybe I do not know how to make them beautiful each day but she does! She wraps them up as if they are very precious gifts to God and presents each one to Him as if it were gold or frankincense or something of awesome value.
God receives these prayers on behalf of the world and all those whom we pray for. To heal a small child, to save a marriage, to encourage someone addicted to drugs seek help, to touch a priest who is having great difficulty in his vocation, and more.
Our Lady can present our prayers so beautifully and it matters little how we "feel" when we pray. It is our trust that matters, the trust that He loves us and hears every prayer. When we turn to Him in prayer our tiny efforts can become mighty through God Himself!
Here's one for you. Which is greater, Creation or the Greator?.
So if the rosary is all that great, why is there 10 hail Mary's and only one Father. The Word of God says the only way to the Father is by Jesus Christ His Son. Nothing in God's Word says to pray to Mary or to anyone else to get to Him. Further, in the Book of Matthew Jesus teaches His disciples how to pray and one of the instructions was not to use repitition as they do with the rosary.
K, this is what my Bible says. So what Bible are you using?
Yup! My dad bought me a book on the Rosary. I pray it every once in awhile - I find it comforting and calming to do so.
Peace!
OH NO NOT ANOTHER CITATION OF JACK CHICK!!! RUN AWAY!!!!!! Seriously, the guy doesn't know the first thing when it comes to Catholicism. He is not a good source because his knowledge is limited at best.
I don't need a set Rosary to meditate on Jesus' life and pray to Him. I use my own words. I don't find anywhere in the Bible that set words made any difference to Jesus.
tebone-03 what is your purpose? Do you use your Rosary as a tool for Prayer or a weapon to prove an illusory exclusivity. It is really amusing watching you pathetic Christians go at each other.

What I know is the Bible instructs us not to pray in rote. You will find it immediately above the Lords Prayer.
So, Catholic, Protestant or what have you, if you memorize your prayers you are screwing up...
EDIT:
Six thumbs down; must have hit a nerve. Like most religious people there were six here that can't handle the truth.
Matthew 6
7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Born, raised, baptized and ordained a Christian. Left with countless knife wounds in my back.
Now I am a satisfied Atheist. Satisfied that there is no EVIDENCE to support any sort of supreme being.
Let's see how the thumbs down pile up now.

"Where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name ,I am in the midst of them". The words of Jesus Christ.

What I do know - watching catholics do it, the object seems to be to get through it as quickly as they can - absolutely no meditation is going on.
Jesus only prayed to his Father,.
