I recently got a ticket for disobeying a traffic control device(lane markers in this case)
I can see why the lane markers (striped white line area acting as an island, followed by a solid white line) would be useful and improve safety in the absence of a stop light, however it is now a lighted intersection and it seems to me that these are unnecessary
could proving that the TCD is outdated and unnecessary help get the ticket thrown out and how would i go about doing so?
ps. this is in california, violation of vehicle code 22101 d

Pay the ticket your chances are 10 to the 16th of winning. All you'll do is piss off the judge.
if the lines were outdated then they wouldn't be there. you can not interpret the law to fit your particular situation. just pay the fine and move on.
