On top of what everyone else said about buying a dog from a petstore being a bad thing, which it IS, good luck finding any puppies in LA county at all. They have passed mandatory spay/neuter laws and all the really responsible breeders have moved out!
Try this website for breeder referals http://www.ytca.org/
Here's a big tip: don't every buy from a pet store unless you'd like a sick, behaviorally impaired, genetic mess of a dog! Pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills no matter what they tell you, and puppy mills care nothing about genes or what dogs to breed. As a result, puppies from mills often come home to their owners with a huge laundry-list of problems.
Instead, find a breeder through the breed club! You can be assured that finding a breeder through this website is a much better idea that getting a puppy at a store. http://www.ytca.org/
Good luck and do your research! :)
Do not buy a Yorkie from any pet store. They ALL come from puppy mills. Every last one. And a lot of the ones in LA come from puppy mills in Mexico and are taken from their mothers at a very young age. If you want a healthy dog, avoid them.
Celebrities do not buy from pet stores. They generally go to breeders and many of them adopt or rescue.
Go to your local shelter.
Or, contact your local small-breed rescue. They always have purebreds, and frequently have puppies. I prefer adopting through a breed-specific organization. The dogs live in foster homes, so they're already used to home life, and the volunteers genuinely care about *matching* a dog with a family.
Do not EVER but a puppy from a petshop. THAEY ALL COME FROM PUPPY MILLS.
Anyway, you could adopt or get from a responsible breeder.
You can go to puppysites.com and that will help ypu find a breeder.
