I have a 17 week old Gordon setter male. He will be 50-80 pounds as adult, and 24-28 inches tall. When should I switch him to adult food. I hear 4 months, and I heard 2 years... Please help
I always recommend owners follow the guidelines set forth by the particular food they are feeding, but most large breed dogs can be switched to adult food around 8mo to 1 year of age. I prefer to feed an all life stage dog food so there is no need to change a dog's food based on it's age.
Science Diet is a CRAP food full of fillers and is mainly corn. Go to dogfoodadvisor.com (an independent site that rates dog foods) to see for yourself. I highly recommend Blue Buffalo, EarthBorn, Annamate, Whole Earth Farms, California Naturals, etc. as they are all 4 and 5 star foods.
I also recommend rotating the dog's diet to prevent allergies as well as digestive upsets. My dogs are rotated every four months.
Science diet is a great dog food. It has specific years and sizes so u can find something great got him. They don't have it at regular stores only at ur vets office or petsmart. My mini dachshund loves it and goes through two bowls a day
