Sam got his soul back
Castiel secretly teamed up with crowley to find purgatory and get the power of the souls there so he could have the power to fight Raphael, because Raphael was going to whipe out humanity.
then, in a horrendousely bad plot twist in the worst taste, Castiel gets the souls from purgatory and becomes drunk with power, scaring raphael away and demanding that everyone kneel before him and call him "God"
season 6 sucked out loud.
