I'm 19. I have had fast food jobs before. I am certified in food safety and I've taken three advanced culinary classes.
I was absolutely miserable in my fast food jobs, because there was no good management and I wasn't respected.
This new place seems too good to be true. It's family owned and run. I'll be one of the oldest employees, with the rest being highschool kids. The food is real, there are no shortcuts, and it seems like a good environment. What's more, the management respects me, and I respect them. I can't work for someone I don't respect.
I think that I have some new job jitters. I really want to make a good impression. I do not want to mess anything up (though being new at a restaurant, mistakes are expected.)
Those of you who work in restaurants: What is the best way to show that I am serious about the job? How can I show myself to be a good employee?

How you feel about your job is reflected by your performance. If you routinely show up on time (early is better), look genuinely happy to be there and do your assigned tasks to the best of your ability your feelings about the job will be obvious.
To put it another way your work should be able to speak for itself.
Someone who doesn't care about their job normally wouldn't be bothered to go beyond the bare minimum required of them.
Show up on time EVERY DAY!
That is the best way to show your employer you are serious.
Be ready to work to!
Good Luck! I have always loved jobs in small owner operated restaurants!
