I have been thinking about building a new computer for awhile, one of the easiest ways to save money is to use old parts from your last computer.
Currently I have a Dell Precision T3400 workstation that I am going to use all the hard drives out of, as well as the video card.
I like the case, it's sturdy and dependable and I'd like to keep it. Can anyone tell me if the Dell Precision T3400 computer case would be something I could re-use? I know that a lot of times Dell makes it so you can't recycle their parts, but I also know that they have been getting better about it.
I'd need to know for sure that the case could fit a mATX mobo and that the screw holes would match up, it'd be nice to know if the PSU also had a standard connection and if the power, LED lights, ect connections fit a standard mobo too.
I know it's a lot to ask, if anyone knows or has had any success please let me know.

Look into the manual of Dell T3400, if the layout is like whats in manual the answer is no way a standard motherboard will fit in this case. Most MOBO have the I/O on the right side back edge from front of MOBO. Then the PCI slots are on left hand back edge. This looking at motherboard from front edge or front panel, this edge holds Sata drive, IDE, and front Panel pin out. There is other problem I run into when re-using a brand name case. Hard time setup front panel wiring to MOBO.
The wiring is not mark like custom case. The only thing you could recycle are the drives. In most workstations hard drive are small compared to stand alone system.
