I was prescribed 100mg of Seroquel XL (quetiapine) each night for symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder like mood swings, anxiety and depression. I've only been taking them for 3 nights, they knock me right out and I sleep very well, at least 8 hours. But last night the tablets did not make me drowsy one bit which I thought was very odd as the side effect should last a week and my body can't possibly be used to them after 3 doses as they are very strong. I stayed up until 4am and slept for 6 hours, I woke up feeling refreshed and ready for the day. I have felt really lifted and confident and generally good all day after being depressed and having rapid mood swings for the last 2 months. I just feel absolutely amazing, like too amazing. Life feels great but at the same time I am getting angry and my mind keeps racing and I feel like I have to constantly be doing something, feeling really irritable. I feel like its an oncoming hypomanic episode but I'm not sure. Can Seroquel XL induce a hypomanic or manic episode? I shouldn't feel this amazing and irritable :S Thanks

Hey!
Im on Seroquel at night for BPD too. If you read the info you get in the packaging it tells you while its not indicated for use in BPD when its used to treat bipolar 1 it is used mainly to treat the manic side.
I'm also on a mood stabiliser called epilim which also treats my epilepsy and that helps partly with my jitteryness and racing mind (not totally though!)
Hope this helps, though if you get worried about any side effects you should talk to your dr.
ps The company that makes Seroquel does a pretty imformative website
