I've never tried the Shiseido ones, but I know that the MAC compacts (by that, you mean cream-to-powder foundations, right?) are a better deal than Shiseido's. Their Studio Tech foundation gives a really nice finish has great reviews. I've also heard good things about their Mineralize SPF15 compact.
