I have been on bc for 10 years with the last year being taken continuosly (so no periods). I stopped bc a month ago. I ovulated on a Sunday and then started my period 9 days later. I've heard that a luteal phase needs to be longer than 10 days to get preg. without help. Is it possible that my luteal phase is actually that short or is it just because I came off bc? Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!!
Update:Thanks so much!! Charting my cycles for a couple more months was what I figured, but it's always nice to hear others' comments - makes me feel better.

Just wait a few months and see if your luteal phase gets any longer. Going off of birth control (especially with being on it for so long) can really screw up a woman's hormones...which can cause luteal phase defects. Even if it doesn't get any better, go to the doctor and he will give you something to try and correct it. My Mother in law had a luteal phase defect and got pregnant on her first round of Clomid. Good Luck!
That can definitely be a problem with sustaining a pregnancy, however since you just came off the pill that might be the culprit. I'd watch your cycles for a few more months (at least 3 total) if you still have a luteal phase that is that short I would make an appointment with your doctor. Good luck!
it seems likely that the birth control pills messed up your cycle. I would chart for a couple of months to make sure that isn't a problem. Also, vitamin b6 (b complex ) helps in lengthening the luteal phase.
I have started taking multivitamins from this month. It looks good thus far. My luteal phase when I charted last month was 11 days.
It relies upon on how short is short. whether it quite is a minimum of 10 days, then there is not any difficulty. being pregnant could be completed with a minimum of 10 days. whether it quite is under 10 days, the egg won't have sufficient time to exact implant. If it would not have the possibility, then it may no longer tell your physique to offer the being pregnant hormone hcg. Hcg will stop your menstrual era with the aid of keeping the progesterone severe and the estrogen decrease. you will get pregnant, even nevertheless it quite is recommended to earnings with a doctor to elongate the luteal section. best of success to you!
i would say because of comming of b/c...give it a month or so and if it doesnt straighten out talk to your doc.
