I got married when I was 18, I'm 27 now. I haven't seen my "husband" since I was 19. I have a family with a wonderful man and we would like to get married. Divorces are so expensive and I would like to do it myself. I am competent enough to do this. Does any one have any info on how the process works and/or the costs?

Yes, you can file for an uncontested divorce yourself in Tennessee. You can learn more at the website below.
If your current husband agrees to the divorce its considered uncontested and you can do it all yourself, you don't need a lawyer and its actually quite simple.
If he does not agree to the divorce, its contested and you will need a lawyer. If you don't know where he is you would file a missing spouse divorce, which is also pretty simple and does not require a lawyer either.
You can go to the court house, and go to there library and make copies of the divorce papers.Or you can go through legal aid society. It's free the only thing you may have to pay for is the notary.Put in the the papers everything you wrote, you haven't seen him in 9 yrs.GOOD LUCK!
