My grandmother was María Carrasco. She was born the august 30th of 1928 in Zacoalco de Torres Jalisco. Her mother was Teresa Ramos and her father José Carrasco. She studied in José de Vasconselos high school. At the age of fifthteen, she married Bernabé Benítez and had ten children with him. She was a very intelligent and noble person. She lived for a while in Zacoalco de Torres, then she moved to Guadalajara City. Most of her time she was a housewife, although she worked as saleswoman for a short time.
Her food was terrific, especially the pozole (stew of young corn, meat and chili) and birria (spicy goat stew). She died the march 24th of 2008 at the age of 79, and was buried the march 26th. We miss her very much and remember her with great love.
