My mom just bought me a brand new microphone last Saturday, and it worked just fine the day I got it, until I tried to play Left 4 Dead 2 yesterday. My friend told me that he couldn't hear anything that I was saying, and when I checked the computer the microphone wasn't being recognized. I really don't want to waste money on a new microphone, so can I get some help?
Notes: It's a USB Logitech mic. It's in perfect condition and I can hear audio just fine, but it won't record or project my voice.
Update:Another note: The mic is a wrap-around that serves both as a microphone and as headphones.

Okay, first of all, hearing audio is in no way related to your microphone. That is your speaker's jobs.
You would have gotten a disc with the microphone containing the drivers. If you haven't, you should install the drivers.
If you have installed the drivers contained on disc, there may be drivers to be downloaded. Go to Google and have a look around Logitech's site.
But please note there is still quite a bit of hardware and software that is not compatible with Vista. Have a look at the box and see if your microphone is actually compatible with Vista.
Look down at your taskbar for the volume control. Right click it and go to Adjust Audio Properties, make sure the microphone is the default device in both sound and voice recording.
Not that I'm a Vista user or anything, but the Control Panel should have an option to switch to classic view. I'm still an XP user and I've corrected some issues with Vista on other computers, but I can't be completely sure. So if you you can't find your way around from the instructions I give you after this comment here, do not try and find it anyway. Just ignore the next set of instructions if that is the case.
Go to Control Panel>Switch to Classic View>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Find the microphone in the Sound, video and game controllers>Right click>Uninstall>Action>Scan for hardware changes>You will probably see an exclamation mark where the microphone icon used to be, the system will be reinstalling the hardware>Right click the exclamation mark>Scan for hardware changes again>System should have reinstalled the hardware.
That should correct whatever is wrong with your microphone.
If this still does not help, consult the instruction manual.
Hope it helps.
