Web design portfolio help?
Hi I have recently started building my own portfolio but to put it online I want to use tools such as photoshop to create a main page image but what do you think would be a good idea.
I mean are there do's and don'ts when creating these images like don't have dragon drawings as it lures away or don't draw in pink as you will lose the male customer who visits. Stuff like that.
I am also asking for general idea's as well I have already created my main menu and title / logo but having never done this before as in portfolio creating I don't know what I am or am not supposed to do.
Thanks for any guidance on the subject.

Well there can be several ideas Nick, I believe one of the idea is to build a proper flash portfolio dedicated to you and your work which is again a time tanking and may be costly if you are not with the flash stuff.
Other idea is in the sense easy way out but still more powerful now a days as compare to your flash media library and that is to join and create your profile in online design contest websites and participate one you win 5 or more competitions your credibility within the designers and the contest holders increases and slowly and gradually the people will come and contact you for design and things because they have not only seen your work but have also compared with other designers as well!!
