I think it is a little like "House" in some ways and some ways very different. He has a woman boss he is often at odds with, he has a staff of young doctors who don't always want to go along with him; but he cares a great deal about his patients unlike House.

Yeah, House and Mental have their obvious and not so obvious similarities, but I guess one major difference is that the main character in Mental shows a genuine care for his patients while House just wants to find the answers/the cure for the diseases he encounters (which is probably why he is in pathology).
So far, I'm liking it. Of course, with any medical drama there will be some similarities, but this show has a completely different feel from House. I hope he's able to help his sister sometime in the series...you can see the pain in his face every time she hangs up the phone. I love that he puts the patients ahead of hospital politics too.
For what it's worth, House cares a lot more about his patients than he lets on. He doesn't like to let anyone know he cares about anyone or anything. But he does care, in his own House way.
I thought it was ok. I just saw it last night for the first time. I was disappointed it didn't give a clear cut diagnosis/analysis like House does. I do plan on continuing to watch it. Shows usually get better with time when the writers get more comfortable experimenting with things.
It's okay but the story and characters are a little generic, plus I can't help but feel like Fox is feeding me the same House storylines all over again and making a ton of money from it.
watched it for the first time last night-LOVED it-yea kind like house-which im addicted to.
