The first two books- Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Price, I went through their reviews and there were hardly any negative ones. Everyone who read couldn't stop saying how amazing the books are. Some said they are even better than the Mortal Instruments series. Is that true?

I think that the Infernal Devices are a much better series than the Mortal Instruments, because it is set in a different time so it is a lot more interesting to read about. The technology is much less advanced, the story focuses more on the actual characters and what they are doing. It's also fun reading about the "ancestors" of the characters in MI because you can see how certain families link back to many years ago. If I was to make any criticism it would be that the plot is very similar to MI in terms of romantic relationships, overcoming the "evil forces", etc. but overall it's a a very good series so far.
Matter of opinion rather than fact.
I'm personally sticking with TMI til the end. Even though so far it seems like it should've ended on book 3.
But I do also really enjoy the ID books.
Both are really good and worth reading.
As to whether they're better than MI, that's personal opinion. They are set in an earlier period, therefore, there's some loss in technology etc. However, it doen't imapct the story in a huge way. But, they are a very good series of books. They're similar to MI in tone and themes but follow a different plot line.
Hope that helps!
I'm currently reading the Infernal Devices. I kind of got bored reading the Mortal Instruments series, and found the prequel series far more entertaining and more interesting. I recommend it.
