I have made this floppy disk as recommended in the computer manual but when I attempt to use it at start-up I get the message "NTLDR is missing". My computer is using NTDETECT.COM, NTOSKRNL.EXE and HAL.DLL to start up normally. Has anyone else ran into this problem and can advise anyway round the problem wiyhout saying seek Microsoft support advice, which is expensive to me.

If you are trying to boot from the floppy, my guess is that you have not created the complete emergency repair set of disks. As I recall, there are 4 disks required.
If your system won't start from the hard drive either, boot from the CD into recovery console. At the command prompt type
copy D:\i386\ntldr c:\ (assuming D is the CD drive)
I have win2k Server and have been using it for 6 years so if you need any additional help, go ahead and e mail me.
there should be a file "NTLDR" (with no extention) on the first partition of the first master volume.
try restoring that from the cd
