both are Dual Core, Intel is currently better at than AMD, AMD is cheaper. I would go for a centrino because most AMD laptops are budget laptops that can fail on you for no good reasons.
My brother-in-law had a bad experience with AMD on a laptop... the hard drive overheated, burned out the motherboard and he ended up needing to replace the whole computer.
