The closest one I found is Anarchy Online. Graphics aren't quite the same, theres no "real-cash-economy", and the background story is completely different, BUT it's a F2P Sci-Fi based MMORPG.

It has 4 races and 12 different "professions". You can focus on hunting rather than PKing, lots of crafting available, and a fairly nice community of players. It has a HUGE world map, so it's fairly easy to find a quiet spot to hunt at your level if your looking to solo a lot. Not too mention "missions" (private "dungeons" You can set up for short term use) for Solo play & Teams.

Most PVP involves Organizations rather than solo-ing Newcomers. It has P2P expansion packs that You don't HAVE to buy.
