I am taking a poll to test out the general public here. When you hear of space ships in space and astronauts “floating in space”, do you believe that there is a lack of gravity that causes people to “float”? Or do you believe that there is hardly any gravity "up" there?

The gravitational field strength in low earth orbit isn't that much lower than at the surface of the earth. From memory I think it's about 9.3 m/s^2 in LEO, and 9.81 m/s^2 down here.
The reason they are weightless is because they are in constant freefall.
astronauts floating in space because In space there was no gravity and in earth there is gravity
Gravity is still there, but the tendency of the spacecraft to move outward away from Earth due to its velocity cancels it.
Neither. Since any object in 'space' is subject to gravitational acceleration and is merely in a state of free fall if it is not applying any accelerating forces of its own.
