one of my favorite bike rides i take i usually do like nothing, but today, after a 12 inch spicy Italian sub at subway, i just did not have as much energy as usual
i was kinda tired as well after a day of shopping too
but i was wondering if a big meal like that can weight you down, figuratively and literally?

Digesting food is hard work for your body. Attempting to exercise after a heavy meal is very hard, your body is trying to do 2 things at once. If you must eat before a ride, make it a light, easily digested meal
I can't eat a large meal and go on a long ride. I always load up on pasta the day before to get a good glycogen supply and eat lite a hour before the ride. I just take a banana and apple along and maybe stop for a diet coke and a salad on extra long rides.

It doesn't give you less energy.... it is a disincentive, it makes you lazy. Never eat a big meal before you do any workout or heavy work. You now know why.

From my experience, yes it can. But only for as long as u let it. I would wait bout 20min then go...even if u don't feel like it. I garuntee once ur out there ur energy will return.
