I have had my industrial piercing for a little more than a year and i'm not sure i want it anymore. if i take it out, does it have any chance of closing up? or could it just close up a little bit so i can't get the earring back in but still have a two holes, just smaller? would it be best to try and find smaller gauge earrings and try to close it up that way? thanks for the help

Yes, they can definitely close up. If you don't have an infection or anything like that, then you can just remove your jewelry and leave the piercing alone.
If you leave it out, it will grow up. Industrial is in the cartliage, which is one of the most likely aeras to loose a piercing. Im not sure if you could do smaller gauges, it probably would work though.
Just take out the bar and and let it go. It may take a year or so for them to completely close, but they will close.
Any piercing will close up if you dont have anything in it. Its the bodies defense in healing a scar & open wound. So yeah it will close up.
If it would not greater healthful, purchase a barbell one gauge smaller. placed on that for some weeks or months, besides the undeniable fact that long it takes to loosen adequate for the unique length. purchase a protracted steel taper to help stretch with.
