Computer Emergency?

So I am in the middle of typing a very important document and I get this crazy message that says there is some crazy error and my doc is gone. It save a txt file on the desktop, but it is all in crazy characters. I tried to save it as a doc file, but the crazy characters stayed.

Is there any way to save all the work I just lost. I am absolutly freaked right now.

I just took a shot of Jack and opened a beer and am waiting patiently for somebody to PLEASE help me!!!

HI guys, you are being really helpful. I am using Word 2007, and the thing is the last file change I can find is from 2/2/08. This is a document I have been working on weekly for months and all the changes since the beginning of Feb seem to be completly gone.

All the imported data from excel is not a big deal becuase excel is still in tact, it is all the conclusions and infrerences about the data that are completly gone
