I just recently started to listen to Mastodon and must say Blood Mountain is fantastic, the more I listen to it, the more I like it. Classic metal record, probably not. Top 100 albums in their genre? Yes.

BQ: Bladecatcher is an incredible instrumental, my other favorite is The Wolf is Loose and Sleeping Giant.

BQ2: Well, I first rated it about a 6 a couple weeks ago, after more exposure I say 10!

No, it's a great album but Leviathan is the only Mastodon record I'd call a classic.

More on the level of essential Metal album. Although Leviathan is a classic within the Sludge Metal genre.
