I really want to get a full size electric cello, but I definatly can't afford it and I don't know if my parents can either. Is there a place where I can rent a cello for not to much? I live in Houston, and I would like to find a store that either rents or sells pretty good quality cellos for not that much.
Update:I already have a regular cello

Do you already have a "non-electric" cello? If so, you can add a "pick-up" to it to make it "electric". You can use the same ones they make for stand-up basses. www.elderly.com has them. If you're talking about a regular cello then there should be plenty of music stores in Houston that rent cellos.
I played violin for 3 or 4 years and cello one year. Violin for me was very challenging once I got to higher classes. The shifting was tricky and so was vibrato. Height doesn't matter because cellos come in different sizes and you sit down to play. I had 3/4 size and I was like 5'0" or 5'1". I had a freaking blast playing cello. i was first chair playing cello! Which means like the leader of that group kind of but it was begining orchestra soo lol still. It was easier than violin to me. And I don't know about the electric. They are expensive but yeah you can barely hear it unless you plug it in which is good to practice. You can only hear it. I suggest you test both and try them out. Feel which one feels better and more comfortably to hold for you. Have fun playing either though! I had fun with both. Good luck, buddy!! ;)
First of all, cogratulations on playing cello. I play it too! It's the best instrument in the orchestra. I suggest you look online or ask your orchestra teacher or director if they know of any rental stores. Also, Houston is definitely big enough to hold a used music store that could rent one out to you. Best of luck and music.
