I am returning to school to continue my education and I have decided to study graphic design online. I don't have great drawing skills and I have only lately begun to work with Photoshop and Illustrator but I love doing both. I constantly find my self fixated on advertisements and logs. Seemingly trying to find out what intrigues me about them and what I would change on those I am not intrigued by. I want to get people's opinions on my decision to study graphic design? I have no real art background. I believe I have a keen eye (at least I have never been told different). I just don't want to invest $60,000+ on an education that I will regret.

Well, graphic design is a very good major to get into because of job opportunities and because it is practical major.
I am very happy which you consider graphic design as you choice, but as a graphic designer I should tell you that for being graphic designer I should tell you that besides having a keen eye, you should be creative and able to solve problems too. You can improve your drawing ability and other visual art skill during your education or take a course in drawing but you should think how much you can be creative and innovative?
Another thing is many courses in graphic design is studio classes so I suggest if you can participate in class instead of learning online, you will learn so much more in class environment specially when you see the work of your classmate.
I also, recommend you to go to college/ university talk to some professor/ teacher about major or visit their galleries or search more about it on internet.

I am very happy with my choice; I hope you will be too, good luck
When I went into Graphic Design I was a little hesitant too. I could kind of draw, nothing special though. You really don't have to be a great artist, programs will help you with that. With you stating you constantly find yourself fixated on advertisements and logos, I think this is the right move for you. I am very happy with my decision to study graphic design. I am now very skilled in all Adobe programs, Photoshop being my favorite!
Good Luck!
