My doctor called this morning and told me that my hcg coincided with my last menstrual cycle but, the chart i saw showed that for 6 weeks the range is like 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml but other sites said 14,000 miU/ml and much higher numbers. I dont remember the exact number that my doctor gave me but it was around 3000 mIU/ml. I know its not the number but the increase that matters but, she did not say that she wanted me to get more blood work, but does want an ultrasound in the next week or so. Just looking for some support and wondering if my number being on the low side of the range is signaling a possible miscarriage or something else?

The numbers vary from person to person. If the number are going up at a good pace, then that is all you need to know. I think when they show you those charts of 1000-56,500 those charts include those having more than one baby. Their HCG levels are much much higher. So, the charts can be a little upsetting but just remember that is a wide range of numbers that they list, that includes many types of pregnancies. Congratulations and try not to worry.
Like you said, its not the # thats important, its the rise. There is a wide range of healthy numbers. Mine were about the same as yours with both my boys around 6 weeks. And they are both healthy. An ultrasound will tell you everything next week. Good luck
