First, I was not aware that Windows XP can be downloaded at all.
Second, you will need to use a Windows XP Install Disk (not OEM) and reformat while installing Windows XP. (This is an option in the XP install menu.) There is no upgrade path that I know of, and neither operating system is supported by Microsoft anymore.

What you need to do is not download XP, but buy XP.
Once XP is purchased you will want to save all of your data on another hard drive.
Then you will want to format the drive and boot up from the XP CD.
Or not format and reboot the computer access the BIOS tell it to boot from CD and it will automatically format..

During the XP install, it will allow you to delete the old Windows 2000 installation.
