I want to have the ability to access my entire(programs, files etc.) computer from a remote location. Would a home server allow me to do this securely? I really dont want to use a simple program. I want to be on a remote computer for example and maybe with a password or something be able to basically turn it into my home computer temporarily. I have multiple programs (worth thousands) that I would like to access when Im not at home. I realize Yahoo answers is kind of an odd place to ask such a question but I honestly dont know where to search and Ive had bad experiences with computer shops. Im banking on someone with computer knowledge. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Update:If I use logmein, does the computer I want to access have to be on, or will it access it as long as the network is running?

You can not directly run programs on one machine which are loaded on another under Windows. you need to remotely access the remote machine, which requires tunnelling if you are going across the internet. The best way to do this is to log your own machine into www.logmein.com, and install the free logmein. Then you can log into the site from anywhere and use your own machine.
