if you are NOT interested, how will you respond?

*side note: He is shy around me (used to seem very nervou) but responded with an extra long smile (on 3 different occassions and also started to find excuses to be near me or talk a little to me.....and has my contact info. but never contacted me)... Would a guy like this forget about me easily you think or could it take a while?
