Intel i7 question compatibility?
What is the cheapest used desktop I can buy that would support up to 16GB Ram and either a
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz or Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition Hexa-Core Processor 3.3 GHz 15 MB Cache.
I want to get a used desktop with the worst possible components, then upgrade the RAM and CPU myself to those specs.

Any computer that has a motherboard that supports the LGA 1155 socket will run i7-3770K. Chances are they won't be too cheap because LGA 1155 is relatively new. Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition uses LGA 2011 and those motherboards are very expensive. I doubt you can find a cheap used desktop that sports such a motherboard.
