Hi I was looking at logic pro 8 then I saw logic express 8 is there any difference in this or can you do the same as such as make beats and record your own music into the program also would these programs be better off running off a desk top apple computer or a laptop or does it not really matter? Reply ASAP. Thank You.

Like Final Cut Pro and Express, there is no real difference between the express and pro versions, except in the pro suite you buy several other programs for live performance and video scoring.
So I would just get Logic Express, unless you have the money for Pro.
And Logic would work just fine on a laptop as well as a desktop (provided the laptop is a macbook pro)
Hi there, Here's my suggestions, I don't have Vista on my computers. I have Win XP, so my suggestions are what to do in XP. 1. Go into control panel 2. double click sound and audio devices 3.Click on advanced it should bring up the master volume control. 4. Try sliding the line in slider up. Speak into the mic so if it records it, it should record your tape to your hard drive probably in wave format. If it does seem to record your voice save it as test mic in my music folder so you can find it, then try listening to it. If not uncheck the mute button under the line in slider. If that doesn't work try this. Do all the above suggestions up to 3. but instead of going to the master volume control do these. New 3. Click on the audio tab, then click on volume under sound recording. It should give two options: first microphone, next line in. New 4. Check to make sure the slider is above it's lowest level. If it's at the bottom raise it up a little bit at a time. You may have to check mark the select box. You may also have to do these two things to the line in option next to the mic option. Keeping trying to record your voice as a test until you can hear it played back at normal volume without much hiss or distortion. If you want to record your tape in wma, mp3 form, etc. then you will need to use an audio conversion software. After converting it, you will need a cd/dvd burning software. Oh check to make sure that you have your mic plugged into the correct input on your computer. It might not work if you have it plugged into the headphone jack even if a combo headphone with mic works in it. I hope these suggestions give you an idea how to do it. I'm sorry that I don't know how to do in Vista. Good luck, squeaky
