Of those two, I prefer Laurel. Lauren is just too common and a bit dated due to its popularity for children born in the 70s/80s/90s. Laurel is actually my neighbor's name, and she's kind of mean/weird so I don't think I would use it because it reminds me of her.
I prefer Laura or Lorraine to either Lauren or Laurel, though.
Personally, I don't like either too much, I just pick Lauren because I am a little biased, and Laurel sounds a little strange to me. Also, I like how Lauren has the nickname option of Wren, thats what my cousins call me.

Lauren because Laurel sounds like a boy's name.

Laurel. Lauren's so over-used.
I'll go with Lauren, since Laurel seems a tad out-dated to me. Then again, Laurel could probably go by Elle.
I still choose Lauren. (:
Would pick Laura over either, though.

Lauren. I knew a girl named Laurel once... she was nice, but I just don't like the name.
Lauren because it's prettier. And Laurel sounds like something you'd find in the ocean.
