Gee Allen, I thought that we settled this an hour ago. Since you're in Virginia, the driveway has no LEGAL requirements

of course, your Lease may say otherwise.
If it is a private driveway, then yes your landlord is responsible for the upkeep.
Read your lease regarding the upkeep of the grassy areas. In real estate all agreements have to be in writing to be valid.
Can you sue him for the damage to your car? You can sue, but can you win. When you sue, the burden of proof is yours. Do you have documentation that you have requested repairs of the driveway?
Good luck
Look at your lease and contact housing authorities. They will advise you who is responsible and you should go from there.
