Which country or state got it's shape due to cultural differences and which event or conflict caused this revolution?
I'm trying to write a paper, any state or country will do. I just need to know what country or state and what year/event it happened.

Update:Like cultural difference conflicts.
I heard Utah got it's boundaries because of a Morman War, I'm trying to find a country that split because of cultural differences, due to different religion, or something.

Or there's a clear cut example with India and Pakistan. When India gained its independence from Great Britain in 1947, there were two countries formed. Where there was a Muslim majority it was Pakistan, where there was a Hindu majority it was India. There are still clashes over the borders today, part of Kashmir is claimed by both sides.
