lets say 3 computers were encoding and transcoding a heavy video.
computer 1:
Intel core 2 duo e6600
3gb ram
9800 gtx vid card
computer 2:
Amd 64 x2 5600+
3gb ram
9800 gtx
computer 3:
Amd sempron 3400+
3gb ram
9800 gtx vid card
now out of these 3 computers i computer 1 encoded the video in 900 seconds then how long would it take computer 2 and computer 3 to encode the same video.
Thanks.

It'll take about 1.5 min more for #2 and a lot more on #3
Intel chips were always faster working with codec conversions.
I believe it's about the SS2-SS3 instructions that make them faster than the AMD ones.

the key distinction between the two is cache (the e6600 has greater), which helps in issues like video games, yet no longer in issues which require uncooked computational potential or speed. in case you do no longer play video games, you're actually not likely to observe lots of a distinction. i7 would be a good smaller overall performance strengthen for many added funds. You do understand which you will desire a clean motherboard and ram to alter from AMD to Intel do no longer you? it is going to be an high priced endeavour.
