I don't know what happened but last night my laptop with a vista OS has been running smoothly. Today, when i woke up i tried opening my laptop and it's been working perfectly up until when i was asked to input my user password...
I placed my password and it continued to load. That's the problem. It's been loading up for 1 hour and it hasn't moved to the main user interface window... Are there any solutions?
Update:I tried shutting the laptop down properly and loading it again. I also tried loading it in the last known good configuration. Every time i do this, i enter my password and then everything goes black... i haven't have the slightest clue on what to do...

Turn it off manually (ie hold down the power button for approximately 5 sec) then after it starts to reboot there will be a button you can press (probably F2 - F9) that will take you to a boot menu.
In the boot menu, select either boot in safe mode or boot from last successful configuration.
If you go into safe mode, just let everything load, then go to start, restart and let it load as usual.
Vista uses so much memory, that is does slow down your computer. It all depends on downloads, and whether your registry is working correctly, or you could be having problems with your anti virus...it could be a few things going on...
hold the power button to cause a manual power down, try to restart it. windows vista has many glitches that it cannot get itself out of, sometimes its as easy as restarting, soemtimes its much mroe.
are you going in to hibernate often? hibernation chains mess vista up just shut it down now hibernate SHUT DOWN and it should work fine after that!!!!
if i had a dime evry time vista had a problem i would be richer than bill gates
