We purchased our cx7 about 6 mo ago. Currently it has 63xxx miles on it. But lately I've noticed some weird things going on. In 5th and 6th gear ( in tectronic and in auto) it has a funny jerk/slip. Like the motor has lost power then suddenly gets it back. Today it threw a CEL. Upon orileys checking it I'm told its a egr problem, and the light was reset. Seems like the more miles that's on it. The stranger it behaves. Any one got an idea of what's going on? Am I approching the imfamous 65k blow up? The light has not came back on yet. But I need to know if I should pawn this car off to some one else.

The EGR does cause that to happen. Have it replaced. It is very cheap and very easy to do. It should take less than 30 minutes if you have the tools. These cars easily last 200,000 miles so you should not sell it for any simple repair that costs $600 or less. Say, if you needed a new transmission or engine, that would be a $1000-2000 job. Still cheaper than buying a new car. But some people don't like spending money to keep a car driving reliably. That is what my gf is like. She gets a new car. It gets one problem and she refuses to fix it and wants to spend loads of $$ on a new car when it is cheaper to fix the one you got.
EGR valves wear out quickly in cars.
Also, change your transmission fluid if you have not already. Some manufacturers recommend transmission oil changes every 35,000 miles and some every 90,000 miles.
Check your owners manual for the correct oil change intervals.
