For right now I dont really want it for tools, though that would be a plus in the future. I want it to be able to pressurize tanks and for other pneumatic applications (like moving a piston or an air powered potato cannon). My price range is below 80 dollars. To be clear I am not looking for a "go to lowes" im asking for someone with knowledge to tell me which model is best for me

You are not going to find a compressor large enough to do much more than air a tire in in your price range. Go to Harbor Freight Tool and look for a cheap pancake compressor in your price range. It will work for your purposes. A really good compressor cost at least a few hundred dollars. A pancake will power nail guns etc.
Shadetree is right $40 for a pancake compressor
