Can GA-1 (Glutaric acidemia, type 1) be caught in a regular CBC test?
My child's doc wants to run this test but I'm just wondering if his regular blood tests would show any abnormal amino acids or other abnormalities that could point to a GA-1 disorder.
Update:We did see an specialist.... development specialist that is. He ordered a bunch of tests including GA1, etc but I was just wondering if this results would had shown on a regular CBC

No! If you think that your child has an inborn error of metabolism, EACH disorder must be individually tested for, going down the list by which ones are most likely given his symptoms. If your doctor doesn't understand this, ask to see a specialist.
