18" x 18" x 25" is usually the recommended minimum size for cockatiels. You can use this cage temporarily, until you can get a larger one. Give your cockatiel plenty of out of cage time so he can spread his wings and be comfortable. Your cockatiel should be able to flap its wings without touching the sides of the cage. A better cage size for your cockatiel would be 24" x 22" x 30". That size cage would comfortably fit one cockatiel. That is the cage size you can look for when you're ready.
basically a cockatiel cage must be 20 by 20 by 24 with the bars 1/2 inches apart so i guess thats alrgith for one cockatiel for now have fun with your bird. The source is a good video about cages
How would you like to walk bare foot around a gravel lot. Then have a place to get off the gravel and then it is rough as a cob also? This is hard on a birds foot. Use newspaper, ground corn cob, or just a plain floor that you wash every morning. Any of these are better than sand anything. Those should be taken off of the market. I have known people who used white sand in the bottom of their aviaries. The birds spent 99% on the perches. Cockatiels and parakeets both hull their seeds. They don't need grit in their diet. Much like all other hook bills. I have seen people get a paper shredder and shred up their junk mail, newspapers and junk magazines in them and used this material on the floor. There are lots of different ways to do things. I say as long as it doesn't discomfort the bird it is OK for them.
Your bird needs a larger cage about 30x20x20, always remember a Cockatiel has quite a long tail for it's body size and will damage it if the cage does not allow it to roost properly.
The cage you have may be adequate for the time being and only 1 bird but you will need a one much larger for 2 birds.
It will be okay as long as your bird gets some quality time out if the cage every day. Ideally a cockatiel cage is 24"X24" with a swing, some toys, and a few perches of different sizes. The 18"X18" cage may leave your cockatiel with a ragged tail, but it will be okay temporarily. Good luck.
yes it will be fine
