Update:In California More People Open Carry Than Conceal Carry Because The Only People Who CA Gives CCW Permits To Are Judges, Senators, Lawyers, People Who Are In The Legal System.
Even Multimillionaires Like Business Owners Have Been Turned Down For CCW Permits In CA!

An unloaded gun is a paperweight, well not quite, all it can do is get you into trouble. Without ammunition, the firearm looses it's life-saving abilities.
In some places in Kalifornia the laws are written in such a way that concealed carry is not allowed, but open carry of unloaded weapons ARE allowed...and you can carry a loaded magazine with the gun, just not in it.
That's they only way open carry of an unloaded gun makes sense, because you can convert it to a loaded gun in a few seconds.
I carry a loaded, concealed gun. An unloaded gun will get you killed and is useless for self protection.
Type of gun ? Anything that goes "bang" will do. I prefer a revolver, but carry a semi for concealment purposes.
You may as well carry a club if you plan on carrying an unloaded firearm. I my self would prefer a loaded concealed firearm. I carry a 1911 w/230gr gold dots. The smallest caliber I would carry is a 9mm/38spl.
Anyhow, for those asking, in some states you are legally able to open carry a firearm as long as it's unloaded.
If I could carry a concealed gun in my state (IL) it would loaded. If I could openly carry my gun it would be loaded. An unloaded gun for protection is like carrying an empty condom wrapper in your wallet. It don't make any sense. When I carry my pistol on my property it is always loaded.
Carrying an unloaded gun? Oh wow.. that's just plain stupid.. what would I use it for, a club?

An unloaded handgun is useless and is only a fancy club. I would rather conceal carry a loaded gun than open carry an unloaded handgun with no bullets in it.

Why the hell would I openly carry an unloaded gun?? Please explain that to me. My state allows both (pending our choice so yes I carry openly.) Quicker access to my hand gun and u bet it's c0cked and locked with a round in the chamber (why would I pull an unloaded firearm.?)
I can not imagine any state allowing open carry, then requiring the guns not be loaded. That does not make sense.
I carry almost every day. I never carry an empty gun.
