All processors will heat up, and laptops can get pretty warm. The Celeron is not the best performing processor but is very reliable and is perfectly suitable for light tasks and day to day stuff.

Best advice to keep the machine working well is to try and keep the area where the laptop is placed clean or you can get dust and fluff etc sucked in by the fan which clogs it up and slows it down or stops it causing heat problems and reliability issues.

You will want to get a Centrino if you're going with an Intel. Celerons are a downgrade and are like getting a C instead of an A (Centrino). For instance, I just bought an HP dv5t at a great price (all the back to school sales are going on, it's a great time to buy!) with an Intel Centrino 2 processor at 2.53 speed with 1066 front side bus and it is AMAZINGLY fast and reliable.

I love my computer, and especially this new processor. Celerons are old technology and you can do a lot better. If you're going Intel, definitely go Centrino or Centrino 2. Good luck!

I have experience it on windows vista on a Celeron M 430. It starts off very quick till then when there are more updates from windows vista update that updates your full system and the New adobe reader 8. It kind of like junk. Well Celeron are junk as one fail to meet that was (pentium dual core) so it was downgrade to celeron.

The celeron are slow and strong so it won't break that easy.

Celerons are lower end processor. You can get a intel pentium dual core. Its a cheap with good performance. It alot better than celeron as not responding perforance when running a few programs. You can also do basic gaming with it.

The Celeron is slow but it should be pretty reliable (provided your laptop has a decent cooling system).

If you can afford to get something better then you'd want to avoid the Celeron due to crappy performance (although it'd probably be enough for basic tasks).

hi yes they do get hot, but not so hot to cause damage though, go for a dual core if you can rather than a celeron, just means the laptop will run XP or Vista much quicker

Spend a few extra bucks and get a something better. Celeron is about the slowest chip still available in mainstream pre-built computers.

Well.....all depends on what you wanna do with the computer . For home use celeron will handle succesfully all tasks.....but if u try some video/dvd editing/authoring ......p4 will go faster .

You generally don't have to worry about overheating problems, unless you use the laptop for extended periods of time (6 hours on end perhaps) or until a year later when your CPU starts collecting some dust.
